A Florida scrub jay perches on some dry twigs in a bush. The Florida scrub jay is a threatened species of bird endemic only to Florida. There are fewer than 10,000 left. They depend on a fire-maintained sandy scrub environment for their survival.
Art Dodd is a self-taught photographer currently living in South Florida who’s been photographing since 1975. Originally educated as an Electrical Engineer, he retired in 2010 to become a volunteer Florida Park Ranger at Jonathan Dickinson State Park. This gets him up close and personal with nature, one of his favorite subjects to photograph. He also enjoys travelling to and photographing other places. Various trips have taken him to places like Panama, Alaska, Maine, Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, and others. In addition to nature photography, he photographs events for District 8 (South Florida) and the Palm Beach Sail and Power Squadron of the United States Power Squadrons and has had photographs published in many of their newsletters.
